Back to Factory returns a remapped car to its original manufacturer software — for a warranty claim, an MOT, a lease return, or selling to a buyer who wants a standard car.
We can do this even if somebody else wrote the tune. We hold factory files for the vast majority of vehicles, so a car with an unknown map from a previous owner can still go back to genuine stock.
£40 if you drive to us in West Bromwich; mobile visits add travel at cost. If we wrote your original tune, reversal is free for twelve months — that promise is the spine of everything else we sell.
What actually happens
We read what is currently on the ECU first, so you know exactly what the car has been running — useful information if you have just bought it.
The correct factory calibration for your exact ECU version is written back, replacing whatever tune was there.
The car is checked over and started, same as any other job. What leaves the driveway is, in software terms, the car the factory built.
The straight talk
The part most tuning sites leave out. We would rather you decide with your eyes open.
Going back to stock removes the tune — it does not repair anything the tune may have masked. If a fault code was deleted rather than fixed by a previous tuner, the underlying fault is still there and may now show itself. Better to know.
Dealers can log software changes. If a warranty visit is coming, do the reversal before the visit, not after the dealer has already flagged it.

Questions
Can you remove a remap you didn't install?
Yes, in almost all cases — we restore from our factory file library, not from the previous tuner's records. If your ECU is one of the rare exceptions we will tell you before you book, not after.
Will the dealer be able to tell it was mapped?
The software going back is genuine factory calibration. Some manufacturers log flash counters that a determined dealer can read; we will give you an honest answer for your specific car rather than a blanket promise.
I'm selling my car — is it worth doing?
Usually yes. A standard car sells to everyone; a mapped car sells to enthusiasts and worries the rest. £40 is cheap against a renegotiated sale price.
